Hockey Players of the Future
The Capital District Selects Junior Hockey program is the premier Junior Hockey organization in Northeastern New York. The CD Selects program consists of two teams: the College Development Juniors, (Jr. A's) and the Developmetal Team, (Jr. B's.)
The College Development Juniors, (Jr.A's,) compete in the Eastern Junior Hockey League, (EJHL). The EJHL is recognized as one of the top junior leagues in the United States by placing dozens of players in Division I college programs. In addition, the EJHL places many players in Division II/III programs. The EJHL is committed to the placement of players to all collegient levels. The league consists of teams that have home ice within a few hours of Boston.
The Jr.A's schedule consists of 70-80 games and includes 8-10 Canadien and American Tournaments.
The Developmental Team, (Jr. B's,) participates in the Empire Jr. B league in the Eastern Division. The Empire league is the leading Jr. B league in the Northeast. Many of the organizations that have teams in the Empire Jr. B league also have teams in the EJHL.
The CD Jr. B Selects play each team in the eastern division 4 times and the rest of the Empire Jr. B teams twice This schedule is carefully designed and guarantees a 44 game schedule. In addition the Jr. B Selects play in a number of Jr. B Canadien and American Tournaments.
The CD Selects was founded and is still run by Jim Salfi. Jim has a wealth of hockey experience, he was the head coach at both RPI and Penn, he played at St. Lawrence University and has been involved in hockey his whole life. Jim serves as the General Manager of both teams and continues as the head coach of the College Development Juniors.
